The Treasure

God gave ALL. He sacrificed His flesh and blood, which is the body He inhabited, suffering and dying, crucified on a tree.

"[To the elders of the church:] Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." - Acts 20:28

And THEN, He offered us the gift of His precious Holy Spirit. He guards His Spirit, giving it to those that will turn from the world, turn from obeying their sinful nature, who will repent and obey Him.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38

"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." - Acts 5:32

The glory of God is His Holy Spirit. It is His Spirit, God Himself that is robed in flesh.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." - John 1:1, 14

"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." - 2 Corinthians 4:6-7

God has filled us with His Spirit so we could know His glory. With His Spirit in us, we have His light in us. With His Holy Ghost, we have His power.

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8

Because we are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure – His Holy Spirit - it is clear that our power is from God, not from ourselves.

"And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." - Ephesians 3:19-21

Because He lives us so much, and gave His all, Jesus has entrusted us with His priceless treasure – the gift of His Holy Ghost.
