Without the mercy of God applied by His blood in water baptism in Jesus name, a person will be judged by their own “righteousness.”
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." - Isaiah 64:6 KJV
Everyone is entitled to the Mercy of God. We must claim it by repenting and being baptized in Jesus name for the remission of our sins. Jesus died for EVERYONE. It is God’s will that NONE should perish, but that ALL should come to REPENTANCE.
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9 KJV
After we repent of our sins, they are remitted by water baptism in the name of Jesus. It is at baptism that we claim Jesus’ blood to wash away our sins.
"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood," - Revelation 1:5 KJV
Baptism is a blood covenant with God. (Romans 11:27/Hebrews 9:22/Matthew 26:28/Luke 24:47/Acts 2:38/Acts 10:43 -His blood is applied by His name)
When we repent, we turn to the Lord with all of our heart. Our life shows we have repented because we turn our back on the things of the world and determine to love and serve Jesus with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Mark 12:29-30)
When we are baptized in Jesus name, we have covenanted with Him. It is an eternal partnership with God – a blessed union and the best decision we could ever make in our whole life.
His gift to us, is His Spirit – love, joy, peace… power to overcome this world…and eternal life.
When Peter preached the Gospel on the Day of Pentecost, He preached the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
“And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." - Acts 2:36-42 KJV
