Who is going to heaven?
The Bible says,
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the
kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor
adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor
thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall
inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but
ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by
the Spirit of our God." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 KJV
Another translation clarifies some of these words: “Don’t
you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t
fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or
commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are
thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none
of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.” - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NLT
The next words are the key words: “And such were some of
you”. Notice it says, WERE some of you. We have a hope! We must wake up and
realize we are putting our soul at great risk to continue following after the
lusts of our flesh and indulging in sin. It is time to make a change.
If we want to go to heaven, we must turn from our sins by
repentance, have our sins washed away by water baptism by immersion in the name
of Jesus, and receive the power we need from God to overcome sin, the baptism
of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38) Everyone was in sin before coming to Jesus and
obeying His gospel. (Romans 3:23) Because of His great mercy, we can find
forgiveness and a new life.
With a new life in Jesus, we find true joy, peace, and love.
He is our Savior and our God that loves us more than we could ever love
ourselves. By His cleansing blood and the power of His Spirit, we have the hope
of going to heaven.
