Jesus got the victory for us at the cross, but it is our choice if we want to claim His victory for our own life. It is when we repent of our sins, are baptized in Jesus name to remit our sins, and receive God’s gift of His Spirit – the Holy Ghost - that we personally are delivered from the power of darkness. This is the glorious gospel of Christ!

The devil doesn’t want us hearing the gospel, and he definitely doesn’t want us obeying the gospel, when we claim the power of the blood of Jesus and of His Spirit.

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." - 2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV

What is the gospel of Christ? Peter said it plainly on the Day of Pentecost:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV

With remission of our sins by the blood of Jesus applied by baptism in His name, and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, we no longer have death to fear.

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy." - 1 Peter 2:9-10 KJV
