When God brought His people out of their Egyptian bondage,
Moses sang a song to the Lord.
"Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song
unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath
triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the
sea." - Exodus 15:1 KJV
The second verse is,
"The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my
salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God,
and I will exalt him." - Exodus 15:2 KJV
We see that Egyptian bondage and deliverance from it is a
type and shadow of our new covenant spiritual experience. The LORD came in the
form of man to save us out of the bondage of our sins and death.
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh
and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death
he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And
deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
bondage." - Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV
The LORD came in His saving name, JESUS.
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is
none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." -
Acts 4:12 KJV
As Moses sang, “I will prepare him an habitation.”
We claim the blood God shed for our sins when we are water
baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins.
"And that repentance and remission of sins should be
preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." - Luke
24:47 KJV
"For this is my blood of the new testament, which is
shed for many for the remission of sins." - Matthew 26:28 KJV
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV
We have prepared an habitation for the Lord when we have
repented of our sins, and had them buried/washed away in water baptism in Jesus
name.
The Lord inhabits our bodily temple when we receive the gift
of His Holy Ghost, which is God’s Spirit.
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the
Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For
ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your
spirit, which are God's." - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV
Because of the great victory God has won for us, delivering
us from the bondage of sin and death, we should be careful to remember that we
are His temple.
"Flee fornication [Run from sexual sin]. Every sin that
a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth
against his own body." - 1 Corinthians 6:18 KJV
"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that
the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him
shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." -
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV
Time to go to church – to worship the One that has delivered
and saved us, Jesus Christ, and to hear the preaching of His Word. We are His people
and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalm 100). Jesus has appointed shepherds –
pastors – so that we may be fed, so we can grow to be pleasing in God’s sight.
As Paul spoke to the elders of the church,
"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the
flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the
church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." - Acts 20:28
KJV
