"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery
trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his
glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." - 1
Peter 4:12-13 KJV
["Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials
you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead,
be very glad--for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering..."
- 1 Peter 4:12-13 NLT]
As a Christian, we can expect testing. It is not a pleasant
thing, but we know that God is working on us to mold our character. And through
this, Jesus is perfecting us.
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But
let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting
nothing." - James 1:2-4 KJV
["Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your
way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your
faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when
your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing
[lacking] nothing." - James 1:2-4 NLT]
Through every trial and test, we must remember to look to
Jesus for help, strength, and guidance. It is only through Jesus, and His ways,
that we can get through the tests victoriously.
