The Song of Solomon (also called, Song of Songs) is a
metaphor of the love of Christ and the Church. We are His beloved.
"I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine..." -
Song of Songs 6:3 KJV
"While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard
sendeth forth the smell thereof." - Song of Songs 1:12 KJV
"Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very
costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and
the house was filled with the odour of the ointment." - John 12:3 KJV [Mary
is a type of the Church]
