Some people are confused about speaking in tongues. They say, “Yes, I believe I received the Holy Ghost, but I didn’t speak in tongues…because I don’t have the gift of tongues.” When a person is born of the Spirit, they speak in tongues! Just like when a baby is born and takes his first breath of air, he utters a sound!

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. ... The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." - John 3:5, 8 KJV

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:4 KJV

The “gift” of “tongues” (1 Corinthians 12:10) is one of nine gifts given to the church to MINISTER to the CHURCH BODY.

"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:" - 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 KJV

The “gift” of FAITH is ALSO one of the nine gifts. “Faith” is similar to “tongues” in that BOTH are necessary for our new birth INTO the kingdom of God.

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." - Hebrews 11:6 KJV

The “GIFTS” of faith and tongues are on a higher dimension given to members of the body to MINISTER TO OTHERS.

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. ... But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:" - 1 Corinthians 12:4, 7 NKJV

We do not need the GIFTS of the Spirit to be saved. We DO need to be filled with the Spirit to be saved. When we are filled with the Spirit (the Holy Ghost), we speak in tongues.

EVERYONE must have faith to come to God, just as EVERYONE speaks in tongues when they receive the Holy Ghost!

"And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied." - Acts 19:6 KJV
