Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, "For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." - 2 Corinthians 10:12
It is a revelation to realize that there is only One we can compare ourselves with, and that is Jesus.
When we compare ourselves with Jesus, we realize that no flesh shall glory in His presence,
"For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence." - 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
It is by Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection that we can be in Christ Jesus, by our repentance, baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the gift of His Spirit. This is how He has become our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. And this is why we boast about Jesus.
"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord." - 1 Corinthians 1:30-31
As it is written in Jeremiah:
"Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD." - Jeremiah 9:23-24
Which leads to the last two verses in 2 Corinthians 10. These tell us that in the end, it is only the Lord’s praise and approval of a person that matters.
"But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth." - 2 Corinthians 10:17-18
