“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above
all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us," -
Ephesians 3:20 KJV
What is the power that worketh in us?
When we have received the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38)
the power that worketh within us is the Holy Ghost.
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." -
Acts 1:8 KJV
When is it that we ask or think?
We ask and think when we pray.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto
God." - Philippians 4:6 KJV
The meaning of “supplication” according to Thayer’s Greek
Lexicon is, “a seeking, asking, entreating, entreaty…requests addressed by men
to God.”
How does the power of the Holy Ghost work in us to do
exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think?
The Holy Ghost works in us when we are praying, as one verse
says, “in the Spirit.”
"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints;" - Ephesians 6:18 KJV
When we are praying in the Spirit - travailing, intercessory
prayer - speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives us utterance, we are
praying BEYOND what we ask OR think.
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for
we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that
searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh
intercession for the saints according to the will of God." - Romans
8:26-27 KJV
Through the Holy Ghost, the power that worketh within us
when we pray in the Spirit, Jesus is able to do EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all
we ask OR think!
