When we repent of our sins and are baptized in Jesus name, we bury our old sinful nature. Jesus gives us a new, holy nature when He fills us with His Holy Spirit. The old sins that we committed are buried – and that’s where we need to leave them. They are dead to us. And what is dead needs to be left buried, not dug up and brought back to this life.
“God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” – Romans 6:2 KJV
"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." - Romans 6:4 KJV
“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” – Romans 6:6 KJV
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." - 1 Peter 2:24 KJV
“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” - 2Corinthians 5:15 KJV
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” – 1Corinthians 6:20 KJV
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - Acts 2:38 KJV
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” - 2Corinthians 5:17 KJV
