Why I am baptized in Jesus name - Part 9
I am baptized in Jesus name so that I can apply the blood
that is necessary for the remission of my sins.
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have
given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is
the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul." - Leviticus 17:11 KJV
[Another translation: "for the life of the body is in its blood. I have
given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the LORD.
It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification
possible." - Leviticus 17:11 NLT]
"And almost all things are by the law purged with
blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." - Hebrews 9:22 KJV
While the blood of innocent animal sacrifices pushed ahead
the sins of Israel, they could not take them away. It took a man without sin to
take away our sins.
"But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again
made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of
goats should take away sins." - Hebrews 10:3-4 KJV
It took our Heavenly Father robing Himself in flesh, born
holy and without sin, to shed His blood for us.
"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the
flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the
church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." - Acts 20:28
KJV
"Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we
shall be saved from wrath through him." - Romans 5:9 KJV
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;" - Ephesians
1:7 KJV
We find peace and reconciliation with Jesus when we apply
the blood of His cross to our life by water baptism in Jesus name.
"And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be
things in earth, or things in heaven." - Colossians 1:20 KJV
By repentance and baptism in Jesus name, God gives us the
promise of the gift of His Spirit.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." -
Acts 2:38-39 KJV
